Here we like to share some of our fondest memories.

CH. Apogee's Fire and Ice
~ Kori ~

CH Kitanishi Kareina Hiroshi X CH Apogee's Cosmic Bombshell

Kori was my first champion and unfortunately diagnosed with Sebaceous Adenitis shortly after her second birthday. Sebaceous Adenitis is an auto-immune disease in which the sebaceous glands of the skin become inflamed and are eventually destroyed. Kori's symptoms were fairly typical - dry scaly skin, patches of hair loss on the head, neck and back and a musty odor. There are various treatments for SA but there is no cure.

Kori's outward appearance, however, never diminished her inner beauty. She was the happiest of dogs and always and avid fan of all people, especially children, and River's very best friend until we tragically lost her to bloat at 8 ˝ years of age. We still miss you everyday, Doofydog.

Fog City's Wicked Ways
~ Nikko ~

CH Apogee's Above The Law X Apogee's Fog City Fantasy

Nikko was my first show dog and responsible for giving me the "dog show bug." He loved showing and I loved showing him. Unfortunately he was diagnosed with discoid lupus at 10 months of age and neutered. This did not stop his show career however. Nikko is an awesome obedience dog and is trained through Open. He never had the honor of adding a title to the end of his name because I became involved in other dog activities and his obedience career took a backseat. At almost 10 years old, Nikko has decided that his some initials at the end of his name are just not that important and he is happy to sleep his days away laying in the sun. :-)

~ Kojii ~

Kojii was my first Akita and a wonderful introduction to the breed. He was an old soul and a true gentleman in every sense of the word. I adopted him from the local shelter when he was about 11 months old and he was my constant companion until he died of natural causes at 12 ˝ years of age. He taught all my new puppies their doggie manners. He became their new "Mama" and did a much better job than I ever could. I was always amazed that someone could lose this kind and gentle creature and never come look for him. Their loss was my gain and I will be forever grateful to them.
