“Our Puppy Policy”

We do not breed many litters each year here at
King’s Mtn. If you really, really want a King’s Mtn.-bred
Dandie, please email us so that we can become better acquainted.
Be warned, before we will consider you as a
potential buyer for one of our puppies, we have to get to know
you well! This is not because we are snobby, but because we have
collectively put over 50 years of our lives into developing the
King’s Mtn. Dandie Dinmont Terrier and want to make sure that
each puppy goes to the home best suited for THAT puppy. Please
understand where our heart is, that we love each and every puppy
as an individual and that we want what’s best for each puppy.
Some general statements about obtaining a King’s
Mtn. puppy:
-
Puppies are sold only to pre-qualified buyers.
-
Puppies are evaluated and matched with the
family whose lifestyle is most appropriate for that puppy.
-
The general health of each puppy is guaranteed.
They are micro-chipped, wormed as needed
and have age appropriate vaccines. Our male companion
puppies are neutered prior to placement.
-
Temperament is of primary importance in our
breeding program!

-
Our puppies are not raised in a kennel but
raised in our home with our friends, family and other dogs
making them well-socialized and well-adjusted little canine
citizens. When old enough they accompany us to work, the mall,
the park and anywhere else they may need to
get exposure to different people, places, sights,
sounds and smells.
-
Our puppies are crate-trained prior to leaving
our homes and are well on their way to being housebroken.
-
Companion puppies are sold on a Limited
Registration - no exceptions. Again male companion puppies are
neutered prior to placement.
-
Puppies are first evaluated at eight weeks of
age. No King’s Mtn. puppy is released into a new home prior to
ten weeks of age.
-
All parents of King’s Mtn. puppies are show
quality animals or they are not included in our breeding
program.
-
There is no such thing as “breeding quality.”
They are either show quality or pet quality.
